2000 Honda Civic

The 2000 Honda Civic marks the end of the line’s sixth generation, the generation widely credited with innovating the current small car segment. Available in coupé, hatchback, and sedan body styles, the 2000 Honda Civic included class-leading handling and a racing-inspired double wishbone suspension. However, sixth-gen Civics did not have the high power-to-weight ratio that the fourth- and fifth-gen Civics did. The 1999 and 2000 Honda Civics are also visually different to early models of the generation due to a 1999 facelift.

In the United States, the 2000 Honda Civic coupé was available at the DX, HX, LX, EX, and Si trim levels. The Civic hatchback was available in CX, DX, and a series of race-inspired EX-style trims with larger engines. Honda offered the sedan body style in the DX and EX trim levels. All trim levels had power steering standard except for all DX models and CX hatchbacks, both of which included a manual transmission standard.

The sparse DX served as the entry-level trim, as it still does today. However, the CX, available on the hatchback, was even sparser since it lacked the standard AM/FM radio and backlit LCD display in the center dashboard. The second-tier LX trim included air-conditioning, cruise controls, power locks, power windows, and a CD player. The HX models were primarily LX models tuned for better fuel efficiency but lacking cruise control.

The EX trim added a remote entry system, map lights, and a sunroof. Special Edition (SE) models were available that accounted for most of the special engine options and racing variants. Outside of the EX, the audio system was a basic four-speaker setup. The EX included four speakers, two additional tweeters on the front doors, preinstalled wiring for system add-ons, and an antenna. This was all included on the EX even if you ordered it without the actual radio.
