honda crz

When the Honda CR-Z concept was debuted, the most striking feature was its styling. It was instantly obvious that this would be a new type of hybrid and Honda fans quickly took an eager interest in the vehicle. With styling that harkens back to the beloved CR-X, many enthusiasts, including myself, felt an emotional stir from within and an instant curiosity. Along with this interest came an anxious feeling to see the production version. But as a mega car enthusiast, I have learned not to get overly excited with concept cars, as many times concepts look much better than production ready showroom goods.

I impatiently looked forward to the first time I would have a chance to see the new 2011 CR-Z in person. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the production CR-Z looked strikingly similar to the concept that announced this forward thinking vehicle. Honda labels CR-Z’s distinct shape as “one-motion wedge form.” I call it sleek styling that doesn’t disappoint from any angle.

The front end is perfectly aggressive with a prominent front grille that looks rightly placed. The hood is low slung and the profile flows well from front to rear aided by what Honda calls “deeply inset beltlines.” These lines help break up decently sized panels that would have seemed too large without them and give the side profile a sharper character. The rear fenders are broad and quite bold considering the sport compact nature of this car. It’s one of my favorite design features of this vehicle. I can already imagine how mean it will look once the stance is brought closer to the ground and the wheel wells filled up with more aggressive wheels and tires. The back end of this car actually reminds me not only of the spunky Honda CR-X but also of the economical first generation Honda Insight. I believe that Honda designers succeeded in fusing both compact car designs in a great manner, thus showcasing the integral fun yet green DNA that the CR-Z embodies.

Add all of it together and all I can say is that I’m extremely excited. Excited at the chance to drive the vehicle and even more excited to see what we, in the aftermarket industry, can do to take it even further. The CR-Z already has great lines out of the box. The aggressive and bold styling provides a great foundation to customize and create some very striking and sporty looking vehicles that are guaranteed to turn some heads.

new honda diesel

Honda and Toyota, Japan based leading car-makers, are planing to develop diesel engines for their passenger cars. The decision came at a time when their arc rivals likeMaruti and Hyundai are already planning aggressively to catch-up with the rising demand for diesel engines. Honda India, which sells some of the most popular cars in India including sedans Honda city and Civic, and luxury hatchback Honda CR-V, is yet to launch a diesel based car in India.
The company is developing a small diesel engine for the fastest growing markets like India and China, so that it can capitalize on the vast opportunity exists in these markets. On the other hand, Toyota, the world's largest car maker, is going to roll-out a diesel version of its sedan Corolla Altis in India soon, which will be its first diesel-driven passenger car in the country.
On the other hand
Toyota India earns 90% of revenues from sales of its popular diesel run utility vehicles like Innova and Fortuner in the country. While diesel is cleaner advanced technology, gasoline will also be important for us, as per a statement given by Sandeep Singh, deputy MD (sales and marketing) of Toyota Kirloskar Motors.

Honda diesel

Honda Siel Cars India Pvt. Ltd, an Indian subsidiary of Japan based leading car maker is eying on launching new fuel-efficient diesel-powered vehicles in the country, as it is registering a slowdown in its sales from last few months. It is widely speculated that Honda will come out with diesel versions of its popular cars in India including Honda Cityand Honda Civc by next year. However, there is no announcement from the company's side on this regard till now. If company has to enhance our market share, having diesel-powered models is imperative. We are actively working on fuel-efficient and eco-friendly diesel engines. However, it will take its time.

He pointed out that more than half the vehicles sold in Europe are diesel. The company is yet to decide the time line for the launch and which cars it will power. Jnaneswar Sen, vice president (marketing), Honda Siel Cars India, to a leading media group.Honda Motors, which is the second largest car maker in the Japanese market, has suffered by lowering down sales in key markets like Europe and US and now company is now working hard to capitalize on the vast opportunity exists in the Indian market. Honda's sales in India will continue to grow simply because the market itself is one of the fastest growing in the world. Besides its existing cars, company's second small car that will hit the market by 2011 will bring incremental volumes, Mr Sen reportedly said.

Honda small car

The Honda new small car, which was showcased at the New Delhi Auto Expo in January 2009, will not be launched in the segment of volume-driven small cars as the company has decided to place it above the highly competitive compact-car segment in India. The Japanese car maker announced on Monday that its proposed hatchback for India is not aimed at the volume-driven small car segment and will be positioned above this category.

According to Mr Fumihiko Ike, Honda Motor Corporation Chief Operating Officer (Asia and Oceania), Honda's small car project is very much on schedule. The company has not decided the likely price or the engine capacity of the small car, but the small car will be positioned slightly higher than the volume market. The company had showcased a concept of this car at the New Delhi Auto Expo where it was named as 'Honda New Small Car Concept'. At that time, the company had announced that the car will be launched in India by year 2011.

When asked about the possibility of launch of a diesel engine, Mr Ike said that Globally the company has diesel engines of higher specifications and now it is developing diesel engine with lower specification also, but it is basically for the European market.

The price segment of Rs 2 to 4 lakh is generally represents the volume-driven segment in India which accounts for the most of the passenger car sales in the Indian market. Currently, more then half a dozen popular cars are there in this segment which includes best-selling Maruti Alto, Wagon R and A-Star, Chevrolet Beat and Spark, and Hyundai Santro Xing and i10.

Honda India has some of the most popular cars in its Indian portfolio including premium hatch-back Honda Jazz, sedans Honda City and Civic, and luxury SUV Honda CR-V. The company however, has reported a decline of 2.13 per cent in its sales to 3,578 units, in April 2010.
