Utility
Both the Civic and Accord base EX coupes can seat up to five occupants. The Accord offers 11.9 cubic feet of maximum cargo capacity in the trunk, while the Civic gets 11.5 cubic feet. The Accord has nearly three more inches of rear legroom with 33.1 inches compared to the Civic's 30.3 inches. The Accord is also longer (190.9 inches compared to 175.5 inches), wider and taller and has a longer wheelbase than the Civic (107.9 inches compared to 104.3 inches).

Performance
A step up from the Civic in terms of pricing and luxury, the Accord can be equipped with three powerful engine options, including two variations of a 2.4-liter inline-4; one that puts out 177 horses and another that exerts 190 horses, and a 271-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6. Each can be mated to a five-speed automatic, five-speed manual or six-speed manual transmission. The Civic's base engine is a 140-horsepower, 1.8-liter inline-4 base engine and steps up to a 197-horsepower, 2.0-liter inline-4. The Civic also offers a 113-horsepower, 1.8-liter inline-4 natural gas engine option. Available transmissions include a five-speed automatic, five-speed manual and six-speed manual.

Fuel Economy
Although both are impressive when it comes to fuel economy, the Civic gets much better efficiency with EPA estimated ratings ranging between 21-26 mpg in the city and 29-36 mpg on the highway, compared to the Accord's 17-22 mpg in the city and 25-31 mpg on the highway. The Civic also leaves a much lighter carbon footprint emitting 6.3 metric tons of carbon annually compared to the Accord's 7.3 metric tons of carbon.

Technology
The Civic has a long list of optional technology offerings, including a navigation system with voice recognition, Bluetooth capability, USB audio interface, a power moonroof and XM satellite radio. The Accord bares some resemblance to Honda's luxury brand Acura, with its use of high-quality materials and standard offerings that include air conditioning, cruise control, a CD stereo with an auxiliary input jack, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel with audio buttons and lighted vanity mirrors. Options include Bluetooth-based cell phone connectivity, XM Satellite Radio and a premium audio system with a subwoofer and knob-based navigation system.

Safety
Both the Accord and Civic feature similar standard safety technology, including a full compliment of airbags, active front head restraints and antilock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution. The only difference is the Accord offers standard electronic stability control, while the Civic only offers this feature on its upper-level trims. In NHTSA crash tests, both the Accord and Civic earned five stars in front passenger, front driver and side rear seat impact; however, the Accord also received five stars in rollover resistance where the Civic earned four stars.

Other
The Accord was redesigned inside and out two years ago, so for 2010, it receives only minor enhancements, including standard hands-free Bluetooth capability on all models with leather seats and new backseat ventilation ducts on EX models. The Civic is a carryover from last year and receives no major upgrades.

The all new HondaCity was showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo.According to the JD Power 2009 India intial quality,it has been given "the best mid sized car in the intial quality" award.Moreover other models that Honda uncovered today were HondaCRV,HondaJazz,HondaAccord and Honda Accord V6 and the main attraction an unnamed Honda model given the temporary name of "Honda New Small" . The New Honda CRV Live Up is a SUV that was also the part of the limelight at the show.It will be available with 2.4 L and 2.0 L engine.

Honda unveiled its India specific small car concept which has been popularised as the Honda New Small. The car is scheduled to release in India by 2011. Honda New Small has come up with all new looks and with extensive use of LED lights. It is believed that car will be powered by a 1.0L VTEC engine and will compete with Hyundai I10 andMaruti Swift.

Another concept car which has been showcased today was Honda CRZ. This car boasts of being the only car with the combination of a SUV and Hybrid model.

Honda plants: Rajasthan honda plants

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, one of the largest two-wheeler manufacturer, has tied up with Rajasthan government for two-wheeler production plant in Tapukara Industrial Area near Bhiwadi. Senior officials from both sides has inked the project recently but a formal function will be held on 31st May 2010 in the presence of Rajasthan cm Ashok Gehlot. The agreement was singed by the Principal Secretary for Industries of Government and President and CEO of Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India.

Besides, other officials of the Government and Vice-President of Honda Siel Cars were also took part in the deal ceremony. HMSI is going to invest of Rs. 500 crore at Tapukara plant, is also expected the capacity of manufacturing up to 6 lakh units annual. In the next turn, the company will be invert more than Rs. 1100 crore for producing 12 lakh units yearly.

Honda Motor has recently launched a new version of Unicorn in India, the Honda CB Unicorn Dazzler with price tag of Rs. 62,900 (ex-showroom-Delhi). Rajasthan government is eager on promoting new approaches in the Automobile Industry. The Minister for Rajasthan government projected that the plan may provide 3000 direct employment and 10000 indirect employment within the first three years. Meanwhile,Bajaj Discover has also entered into premium segment by the launched a new version,Bajaj Discover 150.

Honda export

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) is intending to increase its export market by exporting 110,000 units in the current fiscal year. The company exported 80,000 units in the last year. HMSI president and chief executive officer, Shinji Aoyama said," We are not only exporting to developing countries but also to the developed nations of Europe. The company would invest Rs. 500 crore within the next one year into its second two-wheeler manufacturer plant that would be established in Alwar, Rajasthan.

Honda is believing to sell over 15 lakh two-wheelers in the current financial year from 12.7 lakh units of two-wheelers sold in last fiscal year. The company's motorcycle sales were at 5.2 lakh units and that of scooter sales were also at 7.5 lakh units in the previous Financial year (2009-10). The company registered 18 percent sales growth in the last year. Besides, HMSI is expecting to continue its 18 percent sales growth in the current FY10, he added. Honda's present Harayana and Manesar plants annual capacity is around 15 lakh units. HMSI has recently launched a new sporty version of Honda Unicorn in the premium segment in the Indian auto market, Honda CB Dazzler. On the other hand, Bajaj Auto has also introduced one another model of its Bajaj Discover in the 150cc segment.

Honda sales

Honda Siel Cars India, a subsidiary of Japan based leading car maker Honda, reported a marginal decrease in its May 2010 sales at 4,067 units, as against 4,073 units it sold in the same period last year. The total sales of the company during this month comprised of 3,121 units of its sedan Honda City, 533 premium sedanHonda Civic, 173 units of the luxury sedan Honda Accord, 205 units of the premium hatchback Jazz and 35 units of luxury SUV Honda CR-V.

The company had recently indicated that the Honda new small car, which was showcased at the New Delhi Auto Expo in January 2009, will not be launched in the segment of volume-driven small cars as the company has decided to place it above the highly competitive compact-car segment in India. The Japanese car maker announced on Monday that its proposed hatchback for India is not aimed at the volume-driven small car segment and will be positioned above this category.

Honda to expand its capacity by investing Rs. 530 crore

The 100% two-wheeler subsidiary of the Japan based Honda Motor company, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) is intending to invest Rs. 530 crore for various expansion plans like increasing its two-wheelers capacity by this financial year and make ready their new plant in Rajasthan till the next year. T Kawatsu, Group Vice President, HMSI said," We have planned to open second two-wheeler manufacturing factory at Rajasthan by next year by spending Rs. 530 crore. The company claimed a production capacity of around 6 lakh units of two-wheelers at the second two-wheeler plant. HMSI has already targeted to produce 15 lakh two-wheelers in the current fiscal year (2010-11).

Kawatsu said that the production ratio is enough us to get a growth rate of 18 percent in the targeted period of time. The company's overall capacity will grow up to 22 lakh," he added. The company has also planned to launch a long products range in the Indian two-wheeler market, that would support the brand to rise their market stake. HMSI has already launched a newly sportier version of Honda Unicorn in 150cc segment, called asHonda CB Dazzler. On the other hand, Bajaj Auto has also launched one another version of Bajaj Discover with 150cc displacement, Bajaj Discover 150cc. Apart from that launch, Indian bike lovers will see more launches in India that includes Yamaha SZ, Yamaha YZF R125 and Honda VFR 1200F.

Last year, Honda’s sales achieved an all-time record of 580,000 units in China, the world’s largest automobile market, being well received by numerous customers in China. Honda will continue its efforts to become the “automaker closest to customers” in China, which fulfills customer needs from their view points, by introducing environmentally-responsible models and through further collaboration with its partners, Guangzhou Automobile and Dongfeng Motor.

1) Honda’s environmental initiatives and introduction of hybrid models
Honda will strive to be the forerunner for environmental and energy technologies, by being committed to further improvement of fuel economy and reduction of CO₂emissions in all of its products: motorcycles, automobiles and power products.

To comply with the increasing fuel economy regulations and consumer environmental awareness in China, Honda will continue to proactively introduce environmentally-responsible models to the market. Two hybrid models produced in Japan, the Insight and CR-Z, will be sold within the Chinese market before the end of 2012, further expanding Honda’s environmentally-responsible lineup. In addition, Acura will introduce its first hybrid model within the next three years.

2) Honda operations in China – ahead of other automakers
In order to create another new market in China, Honda is introducing its premium crossover utility vehicle, the Crosstour, which highly combines the comfort of a luxury sedan and the outstanding utility of an SUV. The Crosstour will be produced by Guangqi Honda with sales to begin by the end of year 2010.

Honda is also exhibiting a concept model of the LI NIAN brand, Guangqi Honda’s proprietary automobile brand. The mass-production model of this concept car will be introduced at the Guangzhou Motor Show, scheduled at the end of this year.

Moreover, Dongfeng Honda will also begin its original brand. This will result in both Guangqi Honda and Dongfeng Honda having their original brands, which will further strengthen the Honda group as a whole.

Honda Indy Toronto Champ Car Race

The Honda Indy Toronto is an annual IndyCar Series race, held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Originally known as the Molson Indy Toronto, it was a Champ Car World Series race held annually from 1986 to 2007. The track has 11 turns, is a 1.755-mile (2.824 km) street circuit, and is located at Exhibition Place.

The Toronto Indy is one of six Canadian circuits to hold an Indy/Champ Car race, the others being Mont-Tremblant, Sanair, Montreal, Vancouver, and Edmonton.

In 1977 and 1978, the race, then named the Molson Diamond Indy and sanctioned by USAC was held at Mosport International Raceway in nearbyBowmanville, Ontario. The first Indy race held in Canada was the 1967 Telegram Trophy 200 race at Mosport, which was won by Bobby Unser (his first career Indy victory).

In the 1996 race, American driver Jeff Krosnoff was killed in a crash. In that same crash, volunteer corner marshall Gary Avrin was killed, and marshall Barbara Johnston also received injuries in the crash; she was treated and released that evening.

The name of the race was changed in 2006 from the Molson Indy Toronto to the Molson Grand Prix of Toronto after it was purchased by the Champ Car World Series from Molson Sports and Entertainment. The name was also changed to distance Champ Car from the rival Indy Racing League (IRL), which had gained the exclusive right to use the "Indy" name after 2002. In 2007, after Molson dropped their title sponsorship to the race, Steelback Brewery signed a multi-year, multi-million dollar deal to become the event’s title sponsor, re-naming it the Steelback Grand Prix of Toronto. This marked the first title sponsorship change since the event started in 1986.

The unification of Champ Car and the Indy Racing League was announced on February 22, 2008, and the Grand Prix of Toronto's future was left in doubt. After attempts were made to preserve the race for 2008, it was confirmed on March 5, 2008 that the race had been cancelled.

The 60/40-split folding rear seats even allow the Fit to do some minor hauling. In that light, the Honda Fit hybrid—or the new Fit-esque hybrid—could be viewed as a more practical four-door version of the Honda Insight.

It's unlikely that a Honda hybrid subcompact would sell anywhere near $12,000. The new conventional Fit subcompact is priced starting between $13,000 and $14,000. Commonly, the hybrid version of vehicle sells for a couple of thousand dollars more than its conventional sibling. Even with the hybrid premium, its price will beat out the Civic Hybrid by approximately $5,000 and a Prius by $7,000 or more. The gas-only Fit is powered by a 109-horsepower 1.5-liter, four-cylinder VTEC engine. The Fit-like hybrid, according to our less than fully reliable , will utilize a 1.0-liter engine.
