Honda Civic Used Cars

Most used car shoppers considering a Honda Civic should target the 2006 and later model year Civics. The 2006 model year marked the beginning of the eighth and current generation. The modern Civics are one of the top options in the small car segment and possess a reputation for comfort, fuel performance, reliability, ride quality, and safety.

Outside of being slightly outdated aesthetically, an eighth-generation used Honda Civic provides everything that a 2010 Honda Civic does at a very attractive price. All current body styles and most current trim levels available now are available as far back as 2006. Honda did not introduce the LX-S trim and DX Value package until the 2009 model year, the same year that Honda gave the Civic a minor exterior refresh. In addition, Honda introduced the Si sedan in 2007 and sold a limited edition Mugen Si model in 2008.

Honda launched the seventh-generation Civic in 2001. These used Honda Civic models are available in a two-door hatchback body style in addition to the sedan and coupé body styles available in the eighth generation. Honda sold the hatchback at the Si trim level only. They sold the other models at the same trims that they use now, DX, LX, and EX. Specialty trims include VP, HX, SE, and Hybrid. Most of these Civics include a 1.7-liter engine that produces 117 horsepower and is tuned to produced 127 horsepower at the EX trim level.

Honda sold the sixth-generation Civics between 1996 and 2000. There is a notable transformation in this generation from the last concerning technology and refinement. Available as a coupĂ©, hatchback, and sedan, Honda offered this Civic at the DX, LX, and EX trim levels. The DX and LX include a 1.6-liter engine that produces 106 horsepower. The EX included the VTEC 1.6-liter that generates 127 horsepower. From the modern used car buyer’s perspective, pre-sixth-generation Civics will seem deficient in terms of performance, features, and safety.
