2011 mercedes benz s class

Expect the 2011 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe to make its world debut at the 2010 Paris Auto Show in October.Mercedes-Benz has some major changes in store for its product line over the coming years, with several key models receiving facelifts and complete name changes. We have already seen this with the new 2010 E-Class Coupe, which has replaced the CLK, and soon we will see the CL name phased out with the introduction of a facelifted model later this year. The updated car will come in for the 2011 model year and go by the new name of S-Class Coupe.
The current C216 CL was first introduced at the end of 2006 but prototypes for the facelifted version have been spotted testing in Germany as early as August of 2008. Last year we saw images of the high-performance AMG model but these latest shots depict the standard model. New details include a more upright grille highlighted with a single chrome bar, as well the new headlight design and LED daytime running lights.
In the rear we can clearly see full LED rear lights, a new bumper design and rectangular-shaped exhaust tips. Other changes planned include new indicators in the side mirrors.
Mercedes-Benz engineers are expected to make a major change to the CL’s powertrain lineup for the new S-Class Coupe, with a new family of ‘MoVe’ modular V-6 and V-8 engines with direct-injection and turbocharging technology set to replace the current V-8 and V-12 units. There could also be a number of modifications to the exhaust filtering systems to help improve emissions.

The focus on this year's New York International Auto Show is just what the third word in the title says, international. With less spotlight on domestic vehicles and more on imports and those built by foreign automakers on home soil, Ford, General Motors and Chrysler were suspiciously quiet. Could it be the calm before the storm? The answer is probably not.

For the most part, Ford is almost completely new having revamped their line-up over the past 24 months. Cadillac is rolling out CTS models at a frantic pace and Chrysler is still sorting through the benefits of their recent marriage to Fiat. It was time for Chevrolet and Lincoln to wave the flag and draw attention to good old North American ingenuity in vehicle design. Here are several highlights in our part two coverage of the show.

honda insight

Featuring a Prius-like design and outstanding fuel economy, the all-new 2010 Honda Insight is not only the least expensive hybrid on the market, but a fun little car with loads of personality.

After bursting onto the North American scene in 2000, the Honda Insight is back and better than ever with a remarkable 40 mpg in the city and 43 mpg on the highway. The Insight is available in two trims – LX and EX – and pairs a 1.3-liter, 98-horsepower 4-cylinder i-VTEC engine with a 10-kilowatt electric motor and nickel metal hydride battery for full, hybrid functionality. Honda’s Ecological Drive Assist System or Eco Assist allows you to control various systems that affect fuel economy such as idle stop duration, air-conditioning and cruise control, in order to maximize your mileage. The speedometer turns from blue to green based on how efficiently you are driving, while the Eco Guide display lets you earn five digital plants with leaves that grow if you drive green enough. Basically, the Insight will let you know what you can do to be as efficient as possible.

When it comes to looks, the Insight resembles the Prius, but has a sleeker, sharper exterior with sparkling projector-beam halogen headlights. On the interior, the dashboard and gauges seem video game-esque. Honda’s Satellite-Linked Navigation System with voice recognition, Bluetooth connectivity and USB port are optional, while a 160-watt AM/FM/CD audio system with either four or six speakers, Radio Data System and MP3 auxiliary jack are standard. The Insight seats four comfortably (five is a bit cramped) and includes a folding backseat that extends to the cargo area.

When it comes to safety, the Insight features side-impact airbags, side curtain airbags and dual-stage, dual-threshold front airbags. Antilock disc/drum brakes, a tire pressure monitoring system and Electronic Brake Distribution come standard. An electronic stability system with traction control is available on the EX.

At a time when driving green costs a lot of green, the all-new 2010 Honda Insight is the most affordable and one of the most fuel efficient vehicles on the market.

accord crosstour

The all-new Honda Accord Crosstour makes its 2010 debut as a crossover hatchback wagon version of the Accord midsize sedan, but offers more interior room (particularly in the back), increased ground clearance, a quieter ride and all-wheel drive capability.

Available in EX and EX-L trim levels, one of the Crosstour’s strengths is V-6 performance, featuring a 271-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6 engine mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. EPA estimated fuel economy ratings range between 17-18 mpg in the city and 25-27 mpg on the highway.

Facing competition from the Subaru Outback and Toyota Venza in the crossover wagon segment, the 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour can be had in front- or all-wheel-drive configurations and sits on standard 17-inch or available 18-inch wheels. The front grille is much larger than that of the Accord sedan and dual tailpipes are standard. The five-seat Crosstour’s interior styling and ergonomics is reminiscent of the Accord sedan. EX models feature power front seats, steering wheel-mounted controls, a sunroof, foglights, power front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control and and a seven-speaker stereo system with a six-CD changer.

EX-L models add heated leather seats, a stereo upgrade, MP3 compatibility, Bluetooth connectivity, driver seat memory functions and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The only available option is a voice-activated navigation system with a backup camera. The second row offers 37.4 inches of legroom. For added cargo room, the 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour features a 60/40-split backseat and large storage box under the load floor, which is ideal for hiding valuables so they are not in plain sight of passersby. The Crosstour offers 25.7 cubic feet of room behind the rear seats and maximum cargo capacity is 51.3 cubic feet with rear seats folded.

The 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour offers many standard safety features, including front side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, active front head restraints, antilock brakes with brake assist and electronic stability control.

A larger version of the Accord sedan, the brand-new 2010 Honda Accord Crosstour crossover hatchback wagon offers V-6 performance with front- or all-wheel-drive capability and competitive fuel economy.

honda civic accord

Utility
Both the Civic and Accord base EX coupes can seat up to five occupants. The Accord offers 11.9 cubic feet of maximum cargo capacity in the trunk, while the Civic gets 11.5 cubic feet. The Accord has nearly three more inches of rear legroom with 33.1 inches compared to the Civic's 30.3 inches. The Accord is also longer (190.9 inches compared to 175.5 inches), wider and taller and has a longer wheelbase than the Civic (107.9 inches compared to 104.3 inches).

Performance
A step up from the Civic in terms of pricing and luxury, the Accord can be equipped with three powerful engine options, including two variations of a 2.4-liter inline-4; one that puts out 177 horses and another that exerts 190 horses, and a 271-horsepower, 3.5-liter V-6. Each can be mated to a five-speed automatic, five-speed manual or six-speed manual transmission. The Civic's base engine is a 140-horsepower, 1.8-liter inline-4 base engine and steps up to a 197-horsepower, 2.0-liter inline-4. The Civic also offers a 113-horsepower, 1.8-liter inline-4 natural gas engine option. Available transmissions include a five-speed automatic, five-speed manual and six-speed manual.

Fuel Economy
Although both are impressive when it comes to fuel economy, the Civic gets much better efficiency with EPA estimated ratings ranging between 21-26 mpg in the city and 29-36 mpg on the highway, compared to the Accord's 17-22 mpg in the city and 25-31 mpg on the highway. The Civic also leaves a much lighter carbon footprint emitting 6.3 metric tons of carbon annually compared to the Accord's 7.3 metric tons of carbon.

Technology

The Civic has a long list of optional technology offerings, including a navigation system with voice recognition, Bluetooth capability, USB audio interface, a power moonroof and XM satellite radio. The Accord bares some resemblance to Honda's luxury brand Acura, with its use of high-quality materials and standard offerings that include air conditioning, cruise control, a CD stereo with an auxiliary input jack, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel with audio buttons and lighted vanity mirrors. Options include Bluetooth-based cell phone connectivity, XM Satellite Radio and a premium audio system with a subwoofer and knob-based navigation system.

Safety
Both the Accord and Civic feature similar standard safety technology, including a full compliment of airbags, active front head restraints and antilock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution. The only difference is the Accord offers standard electronic stability control, while the Civic only offers this feature on its upper-level trims. In NHTSA crash tests, both the Accord and Civic earned five stars in front passenger, front driver and side rear seat impact; however, the Accord also received five stars in rollover resistance where the Civic earned four stars.

Other
The Accord was redesigned inside and out two years ago, so for 2010, it receives only minor enhancements, including standard hands-free Bluetooth capability on all models with leather seats and new backseat ventilation ducts on EX models. The Civic is a carryover from last year and receives no major upgrades.

honda crz

When the Honda CR-Z concept was debuted, the most striking feature was its styling. It was instantly obvious that this would be a new type of hybrid and Honda fans quickly took an eager interest in the vehicle. With styling that harkens back to the beloved CR-X, many enthusiasts, including myself, felt an emotional stir from within and an instant curiosity. Along with this interest came an anxious feeling to see the production version. But as a mega car enthusiast, I have learned not to get overly excited with concept cars, as many times concepts look much better than production ready showroom goods.

I impatiently looked forward to the first time I would have a chance to see the new 2011 CR-Z in person. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the production CR-Z looked strikingly similar to the concept that announced this forward thinking vehicle. Honda labels CR-Z’s distinct shape as “one-motion wedge form.” I call it sleek styling that doesn’t disappoint from any angle.

The front end is perfectly aggressive with a prominent front grille that looks rightly placed. The hood is low slung and the profile flows well from front to rear aided by what Honda calls “deeply inset beltlines.” These lines help break up decently sized panels that would have seemed too large without them and give the side profile a sharper character. The rear fenders are broad and quite bold considering the sport compact nature of this car. It’s one of my favorite design features of this vehicle. I can already imagine how mean it will look once the stance is brought closer to the ground and the wheel wells filled up with more aggressive wheels and tires. The back end of this car actually reminds me not only of the spunky Honda CR-X but also of the economical first generation Honda Insight. I believe that Honda designers succeeded in fusing both compact car designs in a great manner, thus showcasing the integral fun yet green DNA that the CR-Z embodies.

Add all of it together and all I can say is that I’m extremely excited. Excited at the chance to drive the vehicle and even more excited to see what we, in the aftermarket industry, can do to take it even further. The CR-Z already has great lines out of the box. The aggressive and bold styling provides a great foundation to customize and create some very striking and sporty looking vehicles that are guaranteed to turn some heads.

honda accord gearbox

Gearbox failure with the Honda Accord is a widespread problem in models made from the early 2000s. The 2003 Honda Accord appears to be the worst year for gearbox failure.

Many of the gearbox failure complaints are caused by the torque converter failing - the engine will rev up but the car won't shift into gear or move. In some reports, the torque converter burned up the gearbox fluid which ruined the gearbox.

Currently there is no recall for the gearbox defect, because it is not a safety issue (according to the NHTSA). So far, a class action lawsuit has not been filed.

Cars are getting ever more complicated and sophisticated, which is great until the gearbox goes wrong! If your Accord gearbox has gone we're ready to deal with almost anything, is your gearbox broken?

How to Change Automatic Gearbox Fluid in a Honda Accord

The Honda Accord is popular mid-size car produced since 1976 by the Japanese automaker. Regular maintenance is essential on any car, including the reliable Accord. This includes replacing your gearbox fluid every 90,000 miles or every 72 months, whichever comes first. Honda recommends you use to use only genuine Honda ATF-Z1 fluid, using any other fluid will break your gearbox. Gearbox repairs are very expensive.

Drive the accord for 15 to 20 minutes to bring the car to a normal operating temperature. Raise the vehicle with ramps or a floor jack. Support it securely with jack stands.

Place a large drain pan on the ground beneath the gearbox. Find the drain plug on the bottom of the gearbox and remove it with a ratchet.

Allow the fluid to drain out until it stops. Install the drain plug with a new washer. In Honda Accords from 1990 to 2000, tighten the drain plug to 36 foot pounds with a torque wrench. In Accords from 1984 to 1989, tighten the plug to 29 foot pounds.

Refill the gearbox only genuine Honda ATF-Z1 fluid. Measure the amount of fluid that drained from the gearbox and put the same amount of new fluid into the gearbox using a funnel. Take care not to overfill the gearbox, as this can cause damage.

Return the Accord to level ground. Start the engine and allow it to idle for a minute or two. Move the gear selector through all the gears, ending in the "Park" position.

Check the automatic gearbox fluid level. Add enough fluid to bring the level to 1/8 inch below the "Add" mark on the dipstick.

Let the engine run for 15 to 20 minutes to allow it to reach normal operating temperature. Check the fluid level again. The fluid level should be within the "Hot" range on the dipstick. If it isn't, add fluid as needed. If the fluid level is correct, replace the dipstick and close the hood.

Method for cleaning an Accord gearbox

A method of cleaning the gearbox system of a vehicle includes the steps of starting an engine of the vehicle and bringing it to normal operating temperature. A predetermined amount of a gearbox cleaner is charged into the gearbox and the vehicle is driven for a predetermined distance. The gears are changed at preselected times while driving so that all gears of the gearbox are used equally. The engine is then shut down and gearbox fluid is purged from the gearbox fluid pan by submerging a trailing end of a first hose into the gearbox fluid. A leading end of the first hose is connected into fluid communication with an inlet of a remote charging tank and an outlet of the remote charging tank is connected through a switch to a source of negative pressure. The switch is set to cause the gearbox fluid to flow into a gearbox fluid waste tank disposed between the outlet and the source of negative pressure. The trailing end of the first hose is then removed from the gearbox fluid pan and a gearbox cooling line is disconnected from a preselected port of the radiator. The trailing end of the first hose is placed into fluid communication with the gearbox cooling line at the preselected port while maintaining the leading end of the first hose in fluid communication with the inlet of the remote charging tank. Gearbox fluid is vacuumed from the gearbox cooling line and the gearbox cooling line is reattached so that all gearbox fluid is removed from the gearbox cooling lines and most of the gearbox fluid is removed from the torque converter.

4 door honda civic

Say Goodbye to the 4-Door Honda Civic Type R

The sporty four-door Honda Civic Type R is schedule to meet its demise in August of this year. Although the Civic Type R remains one of the few performance models in Honda’s current lineup, the automaker will be pulling the plug.

Powering the four-door Civic Type R is a naturally aspirated 225 horsepower four cylinder engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The Civic Type R pay its first appearance in 1997.

“A purist’s sports car  featuring precisely tuned vehicle dynamics, the Civic Type R creates a unity between car and driver for exceptional driving pleasure,” Honda said in a statement. “The first-generation model launched in 1997 and was produced at Suzuka Factory. The second-generation model following in 2001, was produced at Honda of the U.K. Manufacturing Ltd. For the current, third-generation Civic Type R that was released in 2007, the production has returned to Suzuka Factory.”

Luckily here in the U.S., customers among Washington DC Honda dealers still have plenty of choices when it comes to performance. Although not quite as powerful as the Type R, the Honda Civic Si still boasts plenty of power, sport-tuned suspension, and still offers a competitive price tag. Plus, it's available in either the coupe or sedan body style.

honda tyres

The purpose of this table is to denote proper wheelnut torque tightening settings, and air pressure, for most common tyres on the related vehicles. Finding replacement tyres for honda vehicles is not difficult, but that is only part of the equation. Getting the right Honda Tyres for a cars, vans, trucks, or SUVs may involve some choices if the driver's preferences, and driving habits, require different Honda Car Tyres than were originally fitted by Honda. Changing Honda car tyres should require 3 primary choices: The overall quality of the tyre (durability, wear, ratings, cost) desired for the honda The speed rating that the Honda Tyres should have depending upon the driver's average and occasional "fastest-driven" speed Deciding if local and/or regional weather patterns merit keeping two sets of tyres for dry vs. wet road conditions.

Further, if an owner wishes to put tyres on different sized wheels for the honda, a careful decision about what size tyres will be valid for that honda is required. If, for example, a larger wheel size is desired, then the profile (height) and/or the width must be reduced to avoid damaging the drive train. A 195/65/15 tyre for that honda, for instance, on a 17" rim, could legitimately become a 165/65 (narrower) or a 195/55 (shorter) but could not stay a 195/65 as before.

All tyres for any honda vehicle should be fitted using the proper torque, according to the manufacturer's specifications. Torque is the amount of pressure used to tighten the wheel nuts. For tyres that are fitted to the following honda models, the torque settings are listed. Also, the recommended air pressure to put into tyres for honda models is listed. Further, the alternate tyre size for honda models.

used honda accord

The Accord was most recently redesigned for the 2008 model year. In that initial year, Honda rated the optional V6 at a slightly lower (268 hp) output. Only minimal changes have occurred since.

Many other used Honda Accords you'll encounter will be part of the vehicle's seventh generation, which was sold for the 2003-'07 model years. As with the current model, it was available as a midsize coupe or sedan. Selecting a used Accord from this generation should be rather straightforward. Initially, there were three trim levels: DX, LX and EX. The DX was pretty frugal with features, so the better choice will be the LX or EX. Side and side-curtain airbags were typically optional on all trim levels.

Under the hood was a 160-hp 2.4-liter inline-4 or a 240-hp, 3.0-liter V6 engine. Four-cylinder engines could be had with either a five-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission. A six-speed manual was available on the V6-powered EX Coupe.

In 2005, Honda introduced the Accord Hybrid. This model's V6 gasoline/electric powertrain produced 255 hp and, in theory, the best fuel economy of the lineup. In real-world use, however, the car's fuel economy was disappointing and people balked at its higher price. Very few Accord Hybrids were sold.

The most significant changes of this generation occurred in 2006 when the Accord received freshened exterior styling and more power for both engines. Stability control also debuted this year, as did minor modifications to trim level organization. In reviews at the time, we praised the car for its roomy and stylish interior, tight build quality, smooth ride and good crash test scores. Downsides included tepid handling and mediocre brakes. All said, however, this Accord was an excellent choice for a family sedan or midsize coupe.

The sixth-generation Honda Accord is also very popular in the used car market. Available from 1998-2002, this model came in coupe or sedan body styles and had either four-cylinder or V6 power. In a nine-car comparison test conducted by our Edmunds.com editors, this car finished in 2nd place. We noted that the car was not exactly entertaining to drive but was very user-friendly and competent in all areas. Buyers should feel relatively free to look at models throughout this generation as Honda didn't make any drastic changes, though cars built after 2000 have expanded safety features.

Accords built from 1994 to 1997 should make for a smart choice for those on a budget. This model boasted the typical Accord attributes and, as a used car, should provide better than average reliability, assuming it's been properly maintained by previous owners. This generation marked the first time that Honda used its VTEC variable valve timing system. A VTEC-equipped four-cylinder engine came with the EX trim level. Accord models from 1995 and upward also had a V6 available. This generation was also the last for the rare Accord wagon.

Consumers interested in a Honda Accord but limited to a smaller budget could also check out the fourth-generation Accord, which was available starting in 1990. As there is little price difference between these cars at this point, 1992 or '93 EX or SE models are probably your best choices.

The used honda accord is cheaper than the new latest models and gives the luxury of honda accord. The usage, insurances and the parts if any changed should be checked before buying any used honda accord.

honda accord review

Few vehicles over the past three decades have garnered as much respect in America as the Honda Accord. It hasn't achieved this by being sporty, glamorous or sexy. Instead, it has, for every year, offered what most Americans want out of their daily transportation. Take an Accord for a test-drive, and you'll find it comfortable, roomy, intelligently engineered and easy to drive. Research it, and you'll find it backed by a solid reputation for reliability, a strong resale value and an emphasis on safety.

It is true that competing sedans or coupes hold certain advantages over the Accord. Some are faster, others are more prestigious or less expensive. What's special about the Honda Accord, though, is its completeness. It scores well in all of the categories that people expect a family-oriented sedan or coupe to cover, not just a few. When examined from a holistic standpoint, it's easy to see why this Honda car has become an automotive icon and one of our editors' top recommendations.

Current Honda Accord

The current Accord is bigger than previous models and boasts better engine performance without any loss of fuel efficiency. It's available as a midsize coupe or sedan and in a variety of trim levels to suit almost any buyer's needs. Entry-level LX models have the basic necessities while top-line EX-L models feature items like leather upholstery, Bluetooth and an optional navigation system. All models come with a full array of safety equipment, including side curtain airbags and stability control.

As has been the case with past Accords, the newest model comes with either a four-cylinder or V6 engine. The base 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine makes 177 horsepower; an upgraded version of this engine available on the EX trim makes 190 hp. For more power, a 271-hp, 3.5-liter V6 is available. The four-cylinder engine has a five-speed manual transmission as standard and a five-speed automatic as optional. The V6 typically comes with a five-speed automatic, though V6-equipped coupes are available with a six-speed manual.

In reviews, we've found the latest Honda Accord continues to be a satisfying family sedan or midsize coupe, despite the fact that many rivals have caught up in recent years. The interior is very roomy and high in quality, though some might take issue with the car's multitude of buttons on the dash. Compared to some Accords of the past, the latest model is less sporty to drive, and it also has elevated road noise and mediocre brakes. Nonetheless, it still offers the usual Accord strengths of crashworthiness, reliability and comfort.

honda civic review

Honda civic, a world winner so to speak. Its competition the world over is the corolla, which unfortunately we haven't yet put through the paces, but the Honda has let the cat among the pigeons, and their Japanese competitor scrambling for shelter. I know that you have already been smitten by her looks, and waiting to drive one, perhaps drive one home! I've dwell-ed on the drive I had in Bangalore for a few days before writing this; just to let the testosterone settle...

Design and interiors

Well, I don't' have too many things to say about the looks, except "Just look at it". Well, some of us thought the C-pillar looked like it came out of the BMW, some wondered if the low ground clearance would hurt on the usual Indian roads. Some even called it a huge PlayStation!! But, looks are subjective; and I think this Honda looks amazing. I think it goes to show that India is getting more and more mature, and won't accept anything but the latest in design. The car is complete with skirting, deep wheel wells and big 5 spoke alloys which look more Italian than Japanese. These are able to match the size of the wheel wells; unlike some other cars sold in india. The front looks amazingly aggressive; it resembles the Accord, yes but not to the extent that this becomes a carry forward. The rear end is also very muscular and big, but does give the feeling that it was completed in a hurry. The thing about this car though is that it only makes the car look chunky from the rear.

The Sales person at Dakshin Honda, Bangalore kept going on and on about the low clearance between the wheel and the wheel arches and how it helps the car. I really didn't understand a word of what he said, so I went to the Honda website to find out what the raving was all about. Apparently the cab forward design of the Honda has been modified into what they refer to as the MONO FORM SPORT body. This means that the angles and the ratios adopted in the design of the car has allowed the front end of the A-Pillar to get shifted to a position wherein it reduces the angle of the same and hence provides space enough to incorporate the multiplex instrument console, which we will get to in a bit.

You could spend hours on end staring at the way this car has almost been sculpted; but you would have wasted lots of time you could have otherwise spend sitting inside. If anything, this car is much better on the inside than it is on the outside. I do not however recommend this car to those who wish to be driven around by a chauffeur. Not because this car is not spacious but because the point about the entire interior layout seems to be focused around the driver. If for example one were to ignore the front right quarter of the car interior, this car wouldn't be much different from a honda city.

The interiors are radical, very radical. Some of us were of the opinion that this was more of a PlayStation than a car, the dials for example look like they belong in a space shuttle, the two layer instrument cluster and the ability to set the time, have a look at the outdoor temperature and reset the trip meter. The trip computer(not trip meter mind you) is sadly missing though. The meters have a major trick up their sleeves, whenever you open the driver side door, they turn on dimly, when the key is inserted and ignition turned, the needle lights turn on and so on... Nice touch these; new benchmarks, however useless some might argue.

The car also comes with a mp3/wma player, with 6 cd changer integrated into the dash. According to audio experts though, this system has little scope for upgradation, but I'm sure this is sufficient for the average family guy! More importantly, the audio unit and the automatic climate control system controls are not only in the driver's line of sight, but also slightly turned towards the driver which makes it far more convenient. Remember, this is a driver's car.
